What Does Car Battery Group Size Mean
BCI Bombardment Group Size Chart
Knowing the verbal BCI group battery size helps to find new battery replacement, however, knowing just BCI group size is often not enough.
Batteries also differ by their:
- purpose: starting, dual-purpose, deep cycle,
- jail cell type: AGM, gel cell, flooded cell,
- chemical science: pb-acid, NiCd, NiMH, lithium, etc.
Other important information includes details similar terminals number, type, and orientation, bombardment maintenance, housing material, etc.
Knowing all this information significantly helps to observe proper battery replacement.
The most mutual battery groups and their dimensions in inches and centimeters are:
When replacing the former battery with the new ane, be sure that the new ane is of the same chemistry as the quondam ane (or it is a verified "drop-in replacement" battery) and that it has the same or meliorate electrical features.
The following BCI battery group size nautical chart lists the almost common BCI battery sizes.
Notation: we take really tried to verify the information provided in this table, just in that location are no warranties of any kind. Likewise, for the total list of motorbike and like batteries, please check our Powersports, ATV, and Motorcycle Battery Cross Reference Chart page.

Many BCI bombardment groups differ by just a fraction of an inch and they can exist used interchangeably, if and only if the new battery:
- tin can fit your bombardment compartment with properly oriented terminals,
- take the same or improve specifications/features than the old bombardment,
- can exist properly charged.
Even then be sure to check with professionals if the replacement with another battery group is a condom choice. If non, the performance of the new bombardment may cause impairment, injuries, or even worse ...

This cross-reference chart lists 'merely' the battery dimensions and not the orientation of their terminals, terminal types, base hold-down type, lifting edge, and other 'petty', merely sometimes very important details.
Most of the bombardment groups in the listing feature very similar dimensions, except 2 models, BCI Group 48 and BCI Grouping 49.
For example: BCI Group 48 batteries characteristic physical dimensions of 306 x 175 x 192 mm, with the positive final location: Right. BCI Group 48 batteries are considered to be equivalent to the DIN/EN battery groups labeled as H6, L3 and 66L3, with physical dimensions of 278 x 175 x 190 mm, with the positive terminal location: Correct.
However, BCI Battery Group 98R batteries feature physical dimensions of 283 x 175 x 190 mm, with the positive final location: Right, and is a better match to the DIN/EN battery groups labeled equally H6, L3, and/or 66L3.
Likewise, BCI Group 49 is ~27 mm (slightly more than 1 inch) longer than the "standard" DIN/EN H8, L5, 88L5 bombardment.
Once more, when replacing your battery on your own, always check actual battery size and measure your battery compartment. Also, check battery orientation, last types, etc.

Group 31 Batteries - Dimensions, Features, and Recommendations
Group 31 batteries are relatively large and powerful batteries, featuring 20h capacity in 75-125 Ah range, providing 750-1250 CCA, 150-250 minutes RC, etc. Their physical dimensions are approximately 13 x half dozen 13/xvi ten ix vii/16 inches (~13 10 6.eight x 9.44 inches, 330 x 173 x 240 mm), while their features depend on the bombardment design, intended use, chemical science, and similar.
Group 31 batteries are very common in marine, automotive, off-the-grid and similar applications, making them ane of the almost popular battery groups.
